Having survived a traumatic collision as a passenger on a motorcycle, and suffering a catastrophic injury that landed me in the hospital for two and half weeks, I have first-hand knowledge of indescribable pain, chronic pain, and the rehabilitation process. I know what you are going through and I am dedicated to helping you achieve your fullest potential to move and function better in your body.
I graduated from the Finger Lakes School of Massage in July 2010 after completing a grueling (but what an AMAZING journey!) 1000 hours in seven months. I passed my State Boards in August 2010 and became Nationally Certified the following November. I am also a Certified Level II Reiki Practitioner and a certified cupping practitioner.
I first learned about massage therapy back in the 1980's after being diagnosed with Scoliosis. My massage therapist became a very close friend, and it was through her eyes and her hands that I learned of all the amazing benefits and healing properties of massage. At the same time I was also seeing a chiropractor off and on...and I have been a firm believer since that time that massage therapy and chiropractic care go hand-in-hand. In fact, massage works wonderfully with other modalities of holistic care as well! Life is not kind to our bodies...whether we experience accidents, repetitive motion injuries, or just simple gravity...our muscles and bones tell the tale of our lives thus far.
I have chosen this path because I believe there is a huge tendency of disconnect between the mind and body. It is our innate nature to heal; our bodies were created in a way that it constantly strives to be well. It is in the disconnect that our innate nature becomes lost. Bodywork brings the mind back to the body and helps us to live in the moment and focus on what, exactly, is going on our bodies. There is more to wellness than just the absence of disease, so it is my hope to help each and every client to become more body-aware and to rediscover the forgotten path to healing and to their own health and wellness. Let the journey of healing begin!
About me: I am a Southern California native, I moved to this area in October 2007 and absolutely love it here! I go back "home" every summer to visit my family and dear friends, but I am always happy to come back to my home here in the Elmira area. I'm a mom of two beautiful daughters, I love to be out in nature and spending time with my horses, and I am a life-long learner. I love all animals, large and small, and I am an advocate for rescuing instead of buying pets from breeders. I crave learning all things holistic and plan on continuing my education by becoming certified in other bodywork modalities and also in Aromatherapy.
